I was deeply saddened by the passing of Carl Sagan. I have been a great fan of his for over twenty years. When I was 14 my family moved to Malta from New York and as teenager on the island of Malta I was a member of a local student astronomical society known as the Students Astronomical Circle (SAC). I was always interested in Astronomy and Space from a very early age. The very first public lecture I ever gave as a memember of the SAC was entitled "The Search for Extraterrestrial Civilizations" a title i nspired by a book by the late Isaac Asimov. I did a tremendous amount of research for that public presentation, and one of my major sources was Carl Sagan. I used to have a habit of constantly quoating him. I remember that with out me realizing it I spoke for three hours straight, and I covered such topics as the origin of life on Earth, the rise of human intelligence, the evolution of human culture, planetary and stellar evolution, and the methods for searching for technological civilizations. Themes that Carl inspired in me. That lecture went off very well. In the January of 1984 I had the opportunity to view that landmark television series COSMOS when it aired on Maltese public television for the first time. I remember audio taping all 13 episodes. In the summer of 1984 I returned to the United States in order to study Physics and Astronomy
