Hi tries again to seduce her, but she refuses, and at the end of the video, in the last 4 frames, you can see why...

This is an 18th century late Baroque/early Classical mandolin concerto by the Neapolitan composer Emanuele Barbella. It has three movements, all of which I have recorded.
Adapted from the original instrumentation of solo mandolin, two violins and basso to a mandolin quintet (solo nylgut-strung mandolin, two vintage Italian bowlback mandolins, octave mandolin and mandocello).

Импровизация "Продолжая движение". 3. "Metamorphosis". 4. "Poisoned song" ("Poison Song"). Паоло Пандольфо об искусстве импровизаций: "Процесс возрождения дает новую жизнь старому пониманию музицирования. Всякий, кто играет старинную музыку, знает, что музыканты XV-XVIII веков импровизировали множеством способов и в различных контекстах. Например, штудию чаконы можно сравнить с тем, как джазовые музыканты XX века практиковали блюз: они создавали некую основу для развития навыков исполнительства и воображения. Многие записанные сочинения до сих пор хранят следы импровизации, и, вероятно, это было записано для того, чтобы воспитывать в музыкантах важнейший навык - экспромт. Удивительно сравнивать записи сочиненных произведений с записями импровизированной музыки, созданной «здесь и сейчас». Еще одна особенность импровизации состоит в том, что таким образом тело привыкает к инструменту значительно лучше, чем если бы оно постоянно придерживалось строгого рациона фиксированности в музыке. Импровизация открывает новые музыкальные перспективы. Большинство старинных музыкантов были способны не только импровизировать, но и сочинять. Возможно, не все они были так хороши, как И.С.Бах, но так ли это важно? В наших творческих порывах мы, современные музыканты, совершенно парализованы величием композиторов прошлого. Стремясь быть аутентичными во всем, мы должны сочинять и импровизировать, подобно им, не надеясь, что кто-то сделает это за нас. В наших руках судьба Западной музыки, и мы - единственные, кто может позволить ей жить в будущем или умереть в бесконечном повторении самой себя." |

"[Giovanni Lorenzo] Lulier, one of Pietro Agostini's students, was a distinguished cellist, trombone player and composer in Rome. He worked for the Cardinals Ottoboni and Pamphili, conducting their orchestras. Giovanni Lulier furthermore regularly played music with Arcangelo Corelli who worte the introduction to his oratorio Santa Beatrice d'Este. Lulier's oeuvre also includes other oratorios, two operas, a number of arias and cello concerts."

L'Alidoro jas been identified during the recent cataloguing of the artistic Neapolitan treasures of the 17th century at the Abeey of Montecassino. In this recording it has been performed by Antonio Florio and his baroque ensemble La Cappella della Pietà dei Turchini, one of the most intersting realities in musical life in Italy and in Europe. |

ST. PAUL, Minn. — East met West in early 17th-century Venice, and the exotic elements of Middle Eastern and Asian cultures were on display in the music of Venice at the time.
In the Regional Spotlight this week is a frenzied and wide-eyed performance of a Sonata by Dario Castello by members of the Bach Society of Minnesota, harpsichordist Paul Boehnke and baroque violinist Jin Kim.
This September performance was recorded in The Baroque Room in St. Paul, Minn., from a series titled The Road to Bach. |
