Separated from my family at the age of 5, at 16 I lost my freedom, then at 24 I lost my
country. Since then, Tibet has seen great suffering. More than 5000 monasteries and temples
have been destroyed, a million people have lost their lives. And yet since becoming a
refugee I've met many people and had many occasions to learn—when you look at things from
a wider perspective, problems take on a different character.
